The NALA Seal of Accreditation is the Michelin Star of the lash industry.

What is accreditation?

1. the action or process of officially recognizing someone as having a particular status or being qualified to perform a particular activity. "the accreditation of professionals"

2. the process in which certification of competency, authority, or credibility is presented.

NALA accreditation is an assessment process which lash academy owners choose to put themselves through so they can know with absolute certainty, the courses they offer meet the highest level of education possible for their students. This is not a mandatory process. It is fully voluntary.

The NALA Seal of Accreditation is an academy’s way of proving to their students that their lash courses exceed the basic industry standard. Students seek out NALA Accredited courses because the accreditation gives them peace of mind that they are making the right choice for their career.

NALA is a non-governmental, international accreditation agency who has established a great reputation for helping to raise the standards in the lash industry; particularly at the education level. NALA accreditation is the highest accolade a lash academy can achieve. It is evidence that their lash training courses are fully comprehensive and will properly prepare their students for success.

To earn the NALA Seal of Accreditation is an item of great esteem.

Academy Accreditation Requirements

The NALA Seal of Accreditation is not easy to achieve. NALA holds academies to an extremely high standard because we understand that education is the foundation of our entire industry.

To earn the NALA Seal of Accreditation for your lash academy:

  • All of your lash related courses must meet the curriculum criteria (applicants are provided with a checklist upon purchase).
  • Your manuals must meet professional education standards regarding spelling, grammar, and information organization.
  • Your students must be able to follow and understand the content with ease (the manual must have a good flow).
  • All classes must have no more than 5 students per qualified educator (class ratio 5:1).
  • Total amount of in-class instruction must be at least 2 days and should offer a timeline which allows for students to have quality time with the instructor.
  • Academy is required to offer at least 8 - 12 hours of hands-on, supervised practice on a variety of live models.
  • All students must successfully pass an exam (written, oral or observed) before receiving their certificate. If they do not qualify for certification, systems must be in place to help them achieve certification in the near future.
  • Training manuals must contain very detailed, up-to-date information. Applicants are provided checklist of all required criteria which must be included in the manuals.
  • Academy must carry adequate insurance as an educational facility (not simply as a service provider).
  • Graduates must have access to continued support and mentorship after earning their certificate.
  • Accreditation must be renewed annually.

The Application Process

NALA academy accreditation is a three-step process.

Complete the educator's comprehension portion of the NALA School for Lash Trainers.

NALA Accreditation is never guaranteed, it must be earned.

However, if you are unsuccessful on your first attempt a NALA team member will work with you to help you get your courses to accreditation status. Every applicant is entitled to one free reapply, if needed.

We never turn anyone away! But applicants must be prepared to make changes to their curriculum and academy processes in order to meet NALA Standards.

Rules for proper use of the NALA Seal of Accreditation, NALA name, and NALA logo.

Your academy accreditation status must be active in order to use the NALA name to promote your courses and your academy.

You may advertise that you are a ‘NALA Accredited Academy’.

You may advertise your classic, volume, mega volume, lash lift, and lash tinting courses as ‘NALA accredited’ courses only after they have been reviewed and approved. (I removed the italics and the brackets for the rest of the sentence)

You may not advertise any courses which have not yet been reviewed and approved by NALA as being a NALA accredited course.

You may not use the main NALA logo in any way. Our logo is for our use only.

Provided your accreditation status is active, you may use the NALA Seal of Accreditation on your:

  • academy website
  • academy social media profiles
  • academy brochures
  • academy manuals
  • anywhere you promote your academy and its’ accredited courses.

You will not be permitted to use the NALA seal or the NALA name to promote services which don't fall under your approved academy offerings, including (but not limited to): collaborations with other educators, stage presentations, conference workshops, academy events, your lash studio, your lash services, promotions with other studios/lash artists, etc.

The NALA Seal of Accreditation gold foil stickers must only be used on your student certificates for those courses which have been accredited by NALA and hold a current, valid accreditation status. The seal is not to be applied to any other certificates, such as brow shaping/tinting or other trainings which have not been reviewed and approved by the Association.

Should you choose to cancel your accreditation, you will be prohibited from using the NALA name in any way, or from using the NALA Seal of Accreditation. It is not acceptable to continue to promote and sell your courses as accredited courses if you are not keeping up with the annual required updates.

**Misuse of the NALA Seal of Accreditation will result in legal action as per the accreditation agreement.

NALA Accreditation Changes

In September 2019 NALA updated their accreditation service from an individual course accreditation to Academy Accreditation.

The academy accreditation includes the review of:

  1. Classic extension course
  2. Volume extension course
  3. Classic/volume combo course
  4. Mega volume extension course
  5. Lash lift course
  6. Lash tint course
  7. Lash lift/tint combo course

All courses are reviewed as part of your NALA School for Lash Trainers purchase and annual renewal costs. Academy owners may submit new courses at any time for review. Academy owners who previously purchased the original, individual course accreditation are automatically upgraded to academy accreditation at no charge.
